BURNING ORDINANCE
The Village of Cullom hereby ordains:
  • No person shall kindle any accetable fire or authorize any such fire to be kindled or maintained on any private land unless the location is not less than 25 feet from any structure and adequate provision is made to prevent the fire from spreading to within 25 feet of any structure.
  • All acceptable fires shall be constantly attended by an adult until such fire is extinguished.  This person shall have a garden hose connected to the water supply or other fire extinguishing equipment ready for use.
  • Rubbish fires including tires, roofing materials, building materials, rags, straw, or any material giving off an obnoxious odor are not permitted.
  • No burning may be done upon the paved portion of any street or sidewalk.
  • No burning shall be done at any time or place when the wind conditions may create a nuisance to anyone or the property of anyone in the vicinity or to the property of anyone in the vicinity or any person in the vicinty. 
  • No person shall burn leaves or other materials between the hours of sunset and sunrise.
  • ACCEPTABLE:     Leaves, Yard Waste, Fire Pit, Recreation Fire.
  • NOT ACCEPTABLE:   Rubbish, Bldg/Construction Materials, Garbage/Rags, Any materials providing obnoxious odors, Bondfire
  • Any person violating any of the terms or provisions of this ordinance shall be assessed the costs of extinguishing the blaze and shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of not more than $100.00 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed 90 days or both in the discretion of the court.  In the event of continuing violation of the ordinance, each subsequent day of violation shall constitute a separate offense under the terms of this ordinance and may be so charged at the discretion of the Village Board.
  • Fire pits shall be no more than 4 feet in diameter.

REMINDERS FOR RESIDENTS
(1)  Do not put out garbage before Monday evening. 
       Pick-up is on Tuesday.
(2) Homeowners are expected to maintain the easement in front of your home.  It needs mowing also.  Keep your property looking good.
(3)   Dogs may not run loose.
